Brenda Upton Photography bio picture

Welcome

Hi there!  And welcome to my blog!

I'm Brenda, and I LOVE being a photographer.  Being able to do something for a living that never really feels like "work" is amazing.  I am a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia where I studied art and photography.  Since then I starting digging my heals in all areas of photography trying to find my niche.  Once I tagged along as a second shooter at a wedding with a friend, I knew I had found it.  I love that I get to be a part of such an important day in people's lives and document it for generations to pass on.

When I'm not shooting or editing, you can find me hanging out with my husband, Ben and our beautiful daughter, Bailey (yes, we are the three Bs) at our home in Stone Mountain.  And next to us on the couch are our two favorite pups Jack and Shorty (lab and beagle).  This blog will not only follow my recent wedding and portrait work, but you'll get an occasional post about the happenings in our neck of the woods.

So, enjoy!  And please contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up a meeting!

Fun with Sparklers!

While I totally can’t take credit for the idea behind this photo (bride found a similar one on pinterest) I will take credit for the skill behind it;)

An amazing first dance…

Morgan and James’ wedding was super classy. And their first dance was perfection wrapped up in a pretty black and white bow. Here’s a sneak peek of their amazing reception at Druid Hills Golf Club.

Sneak Peek for The Rhodes’!

Had a blast with this family on Saturday. How precious are they?

Rebecca & George: Engagement Shoot

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted an engagement shoot on here! Once I got done with George and Rebecca’s I knew I had to post it. We met up at Rebecca’s parent’s house in Cumming. It was a gorgeous day and we had a blast. These 2 are both currently in their last year of Med school, both becoming Pediatricians! They are so sweet and you can tell how awesome with kids the would be. Hoping they move back to the Atl so I can take my munchkin to see them!
I also got to meet their 3 crazy dogs: Roger, Puppy and Wally. We let them run around and get nice and tired while we took pics of the couple. By the time we needed them of pics, they were super calm.

And yes!  They were totally up for jumping in the pool at the end!  WITH the dogs!  I’m not sure Roger (the one George is holding) was too happy about this…check out his face!

I am so excited for their upcoming wedding this May at Chateau Elan. I’m already scouting a lake for them to jump in…lol.

New Sample Albums!!!

The doorbell rings and I run downstairs to greet the UPS man….because THEY’RE HERE! My brand spanking new sample albums that I have been dying to see in person! It’s been a few years since I’ve updated my collection and it was time. I have recently started offering albums from my new favorite company, Leather Craftsmen. These are the best in the business. The hand-crafted quality just cannot be beat. We now have so many options for you that we are sure to design an album that fits your style and personality. The leather is amazing but we also have this Japanese Silk that is to die for.
While I am still awaiting my storybook album (which I’m sure will be the most popular choice), here are the albums I just received and cannot wait to show you.
Up first is an 8×8 guestbook album. I have never really marketed these very much in the past, but I really think it’s such a great addition to any package. It’s an awesome way to show off your engagement portraits to your guests while also creating an heirloom book to go back again and again and read all the well wishes your guests write. Kind of like a super-awesome yearbook.
The cover choice here is Japanese Cloth in Marine. (Check out Lauren and Jimmy’s slideshow here)

Up next is the gorgeous wedding of Tyler & Mathieu displayed in a 12×12 matted album. The cover option I chose on this is an Ivory Euro Leather with a photo cutout. I’m totally swooning over it (and I rarely swoon). I guess you might call this a more “traditional” album. The images are individually hand mounted into the frames on the pages.

If you have booked a wedding with me that only includes your files, consider upgrading to an album package. They truly are a family heirloom that can be passed down for generations. Totally worth the investment.
Below are all the cover options in leather and fabric, but also they offer a photo plate cover which I’m dying to get my hands on. You can check that out here: http://pinterest.com/pin/48061920993189341/

Spring Mini-Session Time!

Kelly & Robby: Callanwolde Wedding

Taking this blog post all the way back to September when the wonderful Kelly & Robby tied the knot.  It was a perfect day at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and Suzanne with Magnolia Events pulled it all together wonderfully.   I met Kelly when she was a bridesmaid in Katie and George’s wedding in 2010.   It was so great to see Katie again as the maid of honor…with adorable baby bump!

Here are some of my faves…

Emmalee & Billy: Kimball Hall

Oh how I love Emmalee and Billy, from the moment I met them. Billy is the goofiest guy I’ve ever met and Emmalee has a smile and laugh that is contagious. Their wedding at the always gorgeous Kimball Hall was, to sum it up, the perfect day.

Marilee & Chad: The Georgia Club

Waaay back in 2008 (which seems like yesterday), I shot one of my favorite weddings of all time in Madison GA. Do you remember Megan and Merritt? Well, I was so happy her little sister, Marilee gave me a call when she got engaged! They were wed at the beautiful Georgia Club in Statham, GA. It was a perfect day and I was so happy to see some familiar faces, and meet some new ones (Megan and Merritt’s 7 week old son, Sam!) Chad is a Fireman, so they got access to an old firetruck! Photographer’s dream:)

Libby & Jonathan: Grace UMC, Emory Conference Center

Just getting around to posting some awesome weddings I shot last year.  This is one from June of last year and took place at Grace UMC and Emory Conference Center.  Here are my favorite images of the day!
