Genevieve and Daniel’s wedding day at Foxhall Resort in Douglasville, Georgia didn’t exactly go quite as planned. When you spend months upon months planning your dream wedding and all the details you agonize over, you never expect a food allergy to come into play. But, unfortunately the night before the wedding, the bride ate something that must have contained Cocoa. And she’s really allergic to Cocoa. My second shooter, Stacy and I arrived at 1pm expecting it to be a typical Saturday. When I saw Gen, I knew something was wrong. I felt so terrible for her. She was nauseous and weak and could barely stand for longer than a minute. The couple had planned to do a first look, but it was looking more and more like everything for the day would be off schedule. So, with tears in her eyes she called Daniel and told him the news (he had no idea at this point that she was sick). Of course, he rushed over to take care of her. They decided to do the first look anyway; him in his t-shirt and jeans…her in her robe and flip flops. Not exactly the picture she had in her mind, but seeing him settled her nerves and she was already starting to feel better. And I love this part of their wedding story we captured.
Her rockstar bridesmaids were scrambling and finally found a medicine combination/miracle that was starting to work. The incredible team of hair and makeup artists at Brushworx did an amazing job and were so patient with her. She was made up, dressed and ready with about 10 minutes before it was time to walk down the aisle. She look SO beautiful and radiant that her guests had no idea she was sick at all.
The ceremony at the Stables was stunning. We were able to get all the pics we weren’t able to do before the ceremony afterward. And we were blessed with a gorgeous sunset over the lake. Genevieve and Daniel had a blast at the reception. In the end I know that Gen looks back on the day with so much joy. She remembers the chaos, of course, but she treasures her photos that captured the crazy, wonderful day in all it’s glory.
