Brenda Upton Photography bio picture

Welcome

Hi there!  And welcome to my blog!

I'm Brenda, and I LOVE my job.  Being able to do something for a living that never really feels like "work" is amazing.  I am a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia where I studied art and photography.  Since then I started digging my heels into all areas of photography, trying to find my niche.  Once I tagged along as a second shooter at a wedding with a friend, I knew I had found it.  I love that I get to be a part of such an important day in people's lives and document it for generations to pass on.

Family Time!

What? No posts in forever? Must be wedding season! I’ve been slammed for the past few weeks, and gone for one of them. I just got back from an awesome family reunion in the beautiful coastal GA. Ben (the hubby) and I rented a house down there for a week and had all of his family come down for a last minute get together. I haven’t seen most of these people in quite a while…and they all haven’t been in the same place in years and years. We feel so blessed to have everybody there (it’s really amazing that everyone could make it!). We even got to bring our little beagle Shorty along for the journey!

I do have about 8 weddings to post, but how could I pass up the opportunity to show you how much fun we had!

Our first stop was at Jekyll Island for the 4th where we got to stay our good friend’s beach house. Shorty quite enjoyed himself on the beach!

Well, maybe he enjoyed it a little too much…especially after he got into the beer.IMG_6109Don’t I look so sporty spice with my kayaks?IMG_6132
After our weekend at Jekyll, we headed to the town of Merian, GA which is right by Sapelo Isalnd. This is where we rented the house for the reunion. It was breathtakingly beautiful….and really really hot!
Here’s what to look for to find your turn. Turn left at the Baptist Church/Rib Shack. Yes they are attached. Awesome.

IMG_6244IMG_6333Shortly after we arrived, along came the babies! I loooove my little crazy nephews Owen, and Noah… or, “Oh, No” as we call them. Here’s Owen…he’s a little shy can’t you tell?IMG_6176IMG_6251IMG_6215Shorty was so neglected too.IMG_6199The batter is the best part!IMG_6220And his little bro Noah…who is giving Owen a run for his money on cuteness…IMG_6367Eh?IMG_6271Here’s Brian, just as upset:)IMG_6381
And oh yeah, there were other people there too…once everyone got there we all went fishing. Nobody caught anything, but Owen got a bite! Here’s uncle Ben showing him how it’s done…IMG_6277IMG_6283And the other people who aren’t nearly as fun to photograph:)IMG_6298IMG_6290IMG_6325IMG_6309IMG_6306Even I got the through out a line…except I’m never in focus…IMG_6329Goober faces.IMG_6354IMG_6357Ben’s cousin Pam has had this plastic chicken, Savannah, for a loong time. There’s a funny story behind it, and it travels with her on trips and makes an appearance throughout the house!IMG_6269IMG_6247
And she even made it into our crazy family pic!IMG_6439IMG_6364IMG_6375We did so much on our trip, kayaking, fishing, and biking! It’s sooo nice to ride a bike around down there…flat roads under the gorgeous spanish moss. IMG_6460IMG_6442I even meet this little guy on this my ride.IMG_6455Our next adventure was Sapelo Island. If you’ve never been, you have to check it out. Here is Kim on the ferry over…King of the World!IMG_6471Our tour guide JRIMG_6489We stopped by the RJ Reynolds mansion for a quick tour. What a crazy place! Here are some of the paintings on the walls in the basement.IMG_6516IMG_6526IMG_6529IMG_6531IMG_6499IMG_6504IMG_6551
We had such an awesome time getting to see everyone and exploring the coast! Can’t wait for next year!
